PROBLEM OF LIBERIAN MUSICIAN JZYNO

Every now and then squabbles between an artist and his erstwhile record label or fellow Artists always pops up in the Liberia music scene. Artist – Label ‘war’ -artists against is not just subject to the Liberian entertainment landscape, it also stretches into the global music horizon. But then I’m just particular about what happens in my own country.
Year after year you definitely get to read a news headline which notifies you of an internal conflict between an artist and his once very jolly music imprint. Once upon a time everyone involved was OK with the contract then a few years down the line something or everything about the contract doesn’t feel right no more.
The history of artist – label fall out is quite long and interesting. Some of the following Liberian artists have rebelled against their previous labels, broke out to begin something of their own. Let me take it to Africa greatest Afro Nation Artist: Vector against YSG; Skales and Baseline; Kizz Daniel against G-Worldwide and most recently Run-town and Eric Manny etc. Often times the artists triumphs and sadly others times the legal battle stretches without an end in sight. Just like the Liberian civil war it’s a case of ‘No Peace, No Vanquish’.

An interesting similarity in all these fracas between record labels and artists is that once a relatively unknown youngster gains astronomical rise via the platform provided him by his music imprint, the label becomes too small for him. Or perhaps the artists believes they have come a long way and they can now call the shots. Of course the artist is churning out millions weekly for his label, so therefore he would love to run the show.

Why exactly do artists and record labels get into squabbles and legal battles?
A typical upcoming artist is like a drowning man who can’t swim ashore to save his life and that’s who JZyNo’s were back then. He reaches out and grabs anything that may keep him afloat until he can get to the shore alive with big name and become global citizen. He is unconsciously desperate, he’ll grab anything within reach and in sight. “REMEMBER “ A young up and coming music talent always sees a record deal as his opportunity to ‘blow’. He is just like everyone else who doesn’t really read the ‘Terms & Conditions’ before signing up for a new stuff online. Looking at Jzyno’s and Teddyride currently, is a total definition of “laugh hard and show dirt at the back especially with that “ZAGALOGO” 😂. Now, what Jzyno’s has gotten himself in can definitely demolish his career but again, we are looking at both sides, Once upon a time, Teddyride was the humblest Artist in the industry, we all pleased for his promotions and even give it’s all when it comes to pen bleeding and offline promotions, till now, we are still pushing though we aren’t among his top supporters and wouldn’t want to be one either cause my job is to promote every Liberian Artists and see them grow and move higher. I remember few years back, Teddyride puts his ink above the dotted lines to append his signature without fully understanding what he has committed himself into. He smiles widely as his dreams are unraveling before his eyes, ‘it’s unbelievable’.
By a combination of talent, hard work and intensive promo he blows up, rakes in the money then he realizes he deserves more. The 30% he opted for while hustling the recording deal doesn’t cut it anymore. The record label’s policies become too restrictive and ridiculous. He decides to play smart disobey some rules then problem ensues.

On the other hand, record labels can be a sly bunch no doubt. Recording contracts are crafted to exploit artists, some policies are just too overbearing and cagey. Promises made to these desperate artists are not implemented as earlier stated. Also what accrues to the artists are far from what they currently deserve. It’s only a matter of time before the feud sets in. After all these records label took Teddyride and lifted his hands up little high, we all could see how encouraging it were and how supportive we were and never stop our supports and continue background check on him on a daily per any means …🤦‍♂️
Fast forward, Teddyride later lost completely from the Liberian music industry and again were seen as normal Teddyride, later did we know that Teddyride and Jzyno’s had a collaboration pending, at that time, all we could see his love from both Artists in and out of Liberia, literally signed to AEMG Records in Ghana, Teddyride had his first song under the record label tagged “ZAGALOGO” which were a bit popping up in many ears , just in a jiffy, we saw a branded post online linking to Jzyno’s and Teddyride collaboration, we literally felt overwhelmed. “KPAN KPAN ME” which were a breakthrough song/collaboration for both artists, that song trend globally till now, they performed Kpan Kpan me in every corners.
Liberian artists are not ungrateful neither are record labels slave merchants to a certain extent. It’s more about greed from either party.
As a record label when an artist is brought on board it’s a risk because he may not ‘blow’ after all investments poured into his career. Hence those contracts are made in a manner the labels recoup every expenditure lavished on an artist in the shortest possible time. And it’s strictly business. However, in a case were an artist finally becomes really big and the cash begins to roll in. It is only sensible to draft out a new contract or adjustment is made to the existing one. So everyone feels happy again.
Again, ignorance on the part of an artist wouldn’t be excused. Now here’s how Teddyride falls and thank it’s an envy,Before contracts are signed these artists should endeavor to understand what is on paper. A lawyer who understands the entertainment business should be sought to explain grey areas. As much as contracts are binding, the terms and conditions should be adhered to. If at anytime something doesn’t feel right new negotiations should be initiated. Liberian artists as much as possible stick to the terms of the contract and avoid messy fights with labels. Apparently when it comes to the point ties have to be severe, it should be done like 2Face and Kennis Music.
No label should rip off an artist neither should an artist treat his erstwhile record label as trash once he becomes the next big thing. Artists need labels and vice versa they’re two sides of a coin.

Jzyno’s and Teddyride were/are professional musical icons, they both Rep somewhere, Jzyno’s is humbled and internally branded, Teddyride is friendly but has his circle who he feels happy sharing his secrets with and recognize locally, set up your differences and release another collaboration this year.

_Reason why Jzyno’s says Teddyride is ungrateful:

The reason Jzyno’s don’t like him anymore is, why do you go about spoiling other people’s business? And pretend like it’s all love between us? Coming from Ghana 🇬🇭 to support you doesn’t mean he had lot of money, Jzyno’s:I never spoiled your business, never came out to say anything bad about you for two years. So why would you go to an OAP and tell the OAP that the reason why you no longer work with me is because my beat is amateur. What does that mean? Those amateur beats was what brought you to limelight with Kpankpan me, was what made you meet the same Gurus. Now Jzyno’s posted that he’s doing fine without hate but instead his “RULA FC” and others who are not supporting him.. now,: I don’t want to say I regret working with an individual who respects everyone provided his current stance in the world and who came from J.Lee now and I can never regrets but I’m thanking God that we are all alive and he’s working perfectly.
I remembered JZyNo once told Teddyride these below words and I write: “Ask Teddyride, the people you are going to feature in Other countries, if they were like you, would you meet them? ‘I wish him luck. I don’t regret working with his talent, I only regret working with his person. His fame took him away,He forgot where he was coming from. His person is very disgusting. There’s something we call the grace of God. Before Teddyride got to where he is today, somebody gave him a front line, somebody introduced him. He didn’t just come from anywhere.’

In the last ten months , both stars have not worked together on any song and reports confirmed that, Teddyride affirmed his stance on Jzyno’s , saying: ‘My brother, that guy is ungrateful, how can he be spoiling my name when I’ve done nothing wrong to him’.

My intake: It is a joyful thing to see an artist blow up. In the music industry, we have experienced different artists drop songs that blow up and bring some attention to the artist. The audience begins to follow up on the artist and watch their every move. The curiosity increases when the artist appears to have potential and is expected to make an impact.oh before I forget, JZyNo met Banky W. The owner of Empire Mates Entertainment today.

Okay; let me continue 😎
Some artists have successfully proven themselves worthy of the attention they (and their music) receive. They have set themselves apart from many other acts who have ventured into the music industry and have, in one way or another, trod the wrong path.
It can be heartbreaking to see artists with a lot of prospect make the wrong moves and ruin their chances of making it big in the industry. Various musicians have gained entry into the Liberian music landscape and have been unable to maintain the success they received that’s why politicians are using them for campaign songs with no message but instead broken English.

IN KOLOQUWA: I NA SAY I HATE TEDDYRIDE OHH… BUT YALL MEN UP AND LETS SEE HOW AWESOMELY YOU GUYS WORKS WOULD PREACH MESSAGE AND BOMB 💣 THE WORLD. CONGRATULATIONS TO LAY BRIGHT BOI THAT IN GHANA 🇬🇭 WHO JEH MAKING LAY WORLD DANCE TO KOLOQUWA MIXED WITH BUTTER IN 🧈 MY BREAD 🍞😂.
