Without those who came before you, you will be nowhere. You are standing on the foundations they built. The contacts they created. The courage they mustered.
God didn’t bring you before them because you would never have had the heart and courage to beat all they were able to beat. Now you are here in time. People have made it easy, give them that respect.
There were people who sold Millions of CDs without the internet and didn’t get the blessings of repeat purchase. Today, young boys have 1million streams in 1hour but don’t know that some people streamed it 10times within that hour. You feel big but still small compared to those who came before you – those who sold a million copies one at a time with no repeat purchase.
Never sit at a table that berates and talks down those who came ahead of you because you are doing better and seem ahead. Really, you are not ahead of them, you are just in your time playing your role for the industry and setting the way straight for the next young guy to take over.
